Dinosaurs are descendanst of the most recent ancestor of modern birds and the Triceratops. In fact, you can trace their behavior with that of the birds, especially when they sleep. “Dinosauria” came from the descendants of the recent ancestors of the Iguanodon and Megalosaurus. This also includes the Sauropodomorphs (huge herbivorous quadrupeds), Theropods (bipedal carnivores), Ankylosaurians (armored types of herbivorous quadrupeds), Stegosaurians (plated types of herbivorous quadrupeds), Ceratopsians horned and frilled herbivorous quadrupeds) and the Ornithopods (quadrupedal or bipedal herbivores).
Here are some of the largest plant-eating dinosaurs that existed.
Ankylosaurus
This is the last and biggest “armored” dinosaurs that evolved. This plant-eating dinosaur lived through the latter part of the Cretaceous Period, approximately 70 to 65 million years back.
It eats loads of low-lying plant materials to sustain itself. It has a large gut, and produces phenomenal amounts of gas.
It is a huge armored reptile that measures approximately 25 to 35 feet long, 4 feet tall and 6 feet wide. It weighs about 4.4 tons. Its oval and thick plates embedded on its upper leathery skin, the spikes and tails all protect it from predators or carnivores. The only un-plated part is its underbelly, which means, you can only wound it if you flip it over.
This dinosaur got its name in the year 1908 from Barnum Brown. Its fossils were found along Alberta, Canada and Montana, US. 3 partial skeletons (armor and tail) and 2 skulls were uncovered. Trackways were even found in South America (Sucre, Bolivia).
Alamosaurus
This plant-eating quadrupedal dinosaur lived through the latter part of the Cretaceous Period. This period was approximately 73 up to 65 million years back. It is both a Titanosaurid and Sauropod which means it has some body armor.
Being a whip-tailed and long-necked dinosaur, it grows to 69 feet long and weighs 33 tons. Fossils such as fragmentary skeletons (no skulls) of the Alamosaurus were discovered in Utah, New Mexico and Texas. Its name means “Ojo Alamo Lizard.”
Apatosaurus
The Apatosaurus was formerly known as the Brontosaurus. It is among the largest animals that existed on land. It lived through the latter part of the Jurassic Period, approximately 157 up to 146 millions of years back.
It is a whip-tailed, long-necked dinosaur, measuring roughly 70 up to 90 ft. long and 15 feet tall around the hips. Its head is not more than 2 ft. long with a very small brain and long skull. The long neck consists of 15 vertebrae and hollow backbones. Its long “whip-like” tail is approximately 50 feet long. It also has “peg-like” teeth in the frontal part of its jaws. It has 4 “column-like” massive legs, with the hind legs being larger than the ones in front. The nostrils are on the upper part of its head.
Fossils of the Apatosaurus were discovered in Oklahoma, Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. It was Othniel C. Marsh, an American paleontologist, who named and described the Apatosaurus in 1877. In 1879, he named and described another fossil, the Brontosaurus. Further studies have proven that both the Apatosaurus and Brontosaurus came are from a similar genus. It was the former name, Apatosaurus that was adopted.

Aren’t we all fighting for freedom? Freedom from fear? Freedom from debt? Freedom from others’ expectations? Freedom from worry?
Worry is fear. No doubt about it. If we’re worrying over something it’s standing on the foundation of fear.
As I mentioned in a previous week’s issue, I’ve overcome many fears, but as I pass through one I find that I have another and another. That would sound very disheartening except for the fact that each one I pass through finds me more and more freedom in Christ. The process gets easier also. It’s like I know the maze a bit better and the way out is a bit quicker.
Mazes and Mice – Yes, I overcame my fear of mice also. That’s one of those “everybody fears” where you say, “Everybody is afraid of mice. It’s normal.” Like snakes. I told myself everybody hated snakes.
I’m over the mice thing. I actually think they are the cutest things. And although I won’t pick up a snake since I’ve never been taught how, I do love to see them and I’ve touched them with love in my hands at a Science Center.
I’ll tell you something! There is nothing like the freedom of overcoming fear! It’s better than a bungie jump! (Shall we talk about foolishness now?) Always looking for a postive way to see things, bungie jumps may be a way for somebody to overcome their fear of heights.
I’ve discovered that the biggest hurdle is overcoming the fear to face the fear. Fear produces emotional pain which produces health issues as we’ve learned from Pastor Henry Wright’s book, “A More Excellent Way.”
We have to make that decision to deal with the fear when the Holy Spirit brings to mind that it’s a problem. I think this excerpt explains it well:
“Instant obedience is the only kind of obedience there is, for delayed obedience is disobedience. Each time God calls upon us to do something, He is offering to make a covenant with us. Our part is to obey, and then He will do His part to send a special blessing. …… Postponed obedience can never bring us the full blessing God intended or what it would have brought had we obeyed at the earliest possible moment. What a pity it is how we rob ourselves, as well as God and others, by our procrastination!” (From “Messages for the Morning Watch”)
“Obedience is the fruit of Faith….” Christina Rossetti
Consider obedience to the Holy Spirit’s speaking. Does your heart long to be free of fear? You have to begin somewhere. You’re not alone! Jesus holds out His hand to you. He died on the cross to give us the victory over all evil. Fear is the opposite of Faith. It is evil. Take the authority given to you and step forth to conquer.
May God’s boldness and strength be with you!

The term security has gained immaculate importance in the modern world. It is never an exaggeration to state that, the modern world’s cry is not just to impose security, but it is to enhance the existing security. This would be more than enough to get crystal clear idea of world’s ever-increasing demand to have security even for homes to international organizations.
Sensibly starting at a micro level, even houses and shopping malls are badly in need of having security, simply because of the increased crime rates. It is absolutely incredible to learn the revolutionary mechanisms adopted by thieves, terrorists and trespassers for accomplishing their tasks. The security guards who meet this requirement often fall into the category of unarmed security guard. This demands the need to impose security, rather rapidly to counter these tasks. Not just that, professional training for the security personals became mandatory, since they needed to be up to the task.
Gently passing on to macro level, the tasks to be fulfilled by the security officers are entirely different when the subject matter is concerned in providing national security or international security. They have to undergo special training and should be well prepared before getting the matters of national or international stuffs done. The security guards in this arena often fall into the category of armed security guard. They will be provided some special coaching for handling arms accordingly.
Above all, the critical issue faced by majority of the organizations is to arrive at a decision whether they need to develop a security unit exclusively for their company or do they need to go for hiring security professionals from vendors available on a contract security basis. From the financial perspective of the companies, their benefits on developing a unit for them or to hire a unit from outside depend on a whole lot of factors including the specific requirements to be met.
Irrespective of the type of patrol services adopted, professional training in security supervision should never be a compromise. If a company develops their own security unit, it would be possible to pay utmost attention to train the security guards with the optimal orientation in meeting the specific requirements of the company. On the other side, professional security guards, who could be hired, would have gone through the intricacies of general security guard training period.Whatever be the kind of service adopted, substandard training would let your objectives down. Excellent oral and written communication skill is absolutely critical for a security officer. Effectively communicating officers would be the best in business because; the primary key in evaluating a security personal would be through his communication and interaction skills.
Although, the stream of security guard training has proven their prowess in producing highly qualified security officers, flaws are still there to be rectified. Officers, who had their training from security training schools, at times, have discovered the fact that they were poor in evaluating the reputation and standard of the training school. Substandard certifications and training schools are numerous these days, and candidates could be wrongly leaded. Hence it is always important to get a clear picture of the professional training schools to help you out in making you the best in business.

Body armor and plate carriers are two standard pieces of combat equipment. In the United States, body armor started came into use during World War I, although other nations had used similar protective gear prior to the Twentieth Century. The Brewster Body Shield was one of the first pieces of personal protective equipment used by the U.S. military. In modern times, the Improved Outer Tactical Vest (IOTV) and U.S. Marine Corps Modular Tactical Vest (MTV), both used with Small Arms Protective Inserts (SAPI), are common pieces of protective combat equipment. These tactical vests protect against ballistic projectiles and impact, while the plates protect against rifle bullets and sharp objects.
Ballistic vests, which refer to any piece of armor that protects against bullets, are made of strong fibers that catch projectiles and spread their force over a large surface area. The energy from the projectile is absorbed by this large area of the vest. However, the wearer may still experience some form of blunt trauma when wearing this piece of body armor.
Body armor such as ballistic vests has penetration resistance requirements and limits on the amount of impact energy for which it can stand. A ballistic vest by itself, however, offers very minimal protection against sharp objects – knives, arrows, and ice picks – as these puncture through the fibers that flatten most bullets. Each vest, for use as combat equipment or in law enforcement, needs to meet various performance standards. In the United States, these are specified by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ). NIJ standards and the UK’s Home Office Scientific Development Branch standards are generally used for body armor across the world.
NIJ standards use a system that classifies from Type I to Type IV based on various tests for penetration resistance and the impact energy transmitted. A typical test consists of a projectile fired at the vest and the depth it makes into the material is measured. Types III and IV offer rifle resistance, but the vests for this type of protection need to be supplemented by Small Arms Protective Inserts.
Plates like Small Arms Protective Inserts support the body armor through metal, ceramic, or polyethylene over vital organs. The addition of these plates makes the body armor fully effective against handgun and rifle bullets. Together, the vest and plates are standard in military uses.
Protection against stabs and other sharp objects requires a different set of materials. Body armor, in this case, is supplemented through coated and laminated para-aramid textiles or metal. Standards for this type of vest are based on those by the British Police, PSDB. However, those in law enforcement may be benefitted by combination stab and ballistic protection armor.
Another term in reference to body armor is a carrier. Not to be confused with tactical cases, carriers refer to the visible part of the vest with pockets for ballistic plates and straps for mounting onto the user. As a common piece of combat equipment, carriers are used by both military and law enforcement professionals. Military body armor carriers, more specifically, have webbing with a series of hooks, loops, and snaps on the front and back. This allows various pieces of gear to be attached to the front of the carrier.

St. Anthony (251-356 AD) left the world to go into seclusion and for nearly eighty years he became a strict taskmaster of his body and soul. Upon reaching his 100th year, his fear of the Lord had turned into love of the Lord.
He began to teach that love is more than fasting and mortifying the body and began to counsel his followers: “Be of good cheer, for when the bow is drawn too taut it snaps.” This is a reminder for us that being too strict and unbending in our spiritual practice may be detrimental to our spiritual growth and to the world around us, and may lead to burn-out, break-down, and even failure.
We are reminded here, also, that the greatest power of all is love and that the essence of life is in the way we live our lives. Saint Anthony found, after many years of self-deprivation, that he was here to give, not just to receive. He realized his salvation did not rest only in knowledge of God but in what he did with the knowledge.
Sometimes a renunciate will deny or explain away that hands help rather than hinder the deep meditations of the heart. But combining work with meditation promotes God-centeredness. Those who both live in God and work for God help the world and, by living this way, are in the world but not of the world.
In reality, there is no large distinction between a holy man and an ordinary man. God is fully accessible to all, and you do not have to go far to find God, for He awaits discovery everywhere and within you.
Once St. Anthony began to love mankind, he received so much more than before. He now saw, in nature and every created thing, a revelation of God, and his work among people came to be, for him, as deep a devotion as his prayers in a solitary cave. Above all, in loving others, he learned to more fully love God.
In Messages from Jesus – A Dialogue of Love, p.47, Jesus said,”If you are unable to have quiet time during your day, practice wakeful meditation in your busy life. In this wakeful meditation, go about your duties and encounters with love. Imagine each moment as the only moment, because it is. Live, knowing you are in the presence of God. Meld lovingly into all situations-into all people, children, nature, and even material things.

Mary Ann’s writings show us how Spirit nurtures and strengthens our souls, and our part in the process. Jesus is speaking through many others at this time in history and His messages are both timely and timeless.
In “Messages from Jesus – A Dialogue of Love”, Jesus discusses threats to our health, safety, and environment that didn’t exist two thousand years ago and presents spiritual concepts few could have understood back then. But He also enables us to more fully comprehend the timeless truths He lived and taught at that time. Many have been spiritually changed, comforted, and inspired to be more loving and forgiving by reading “Messages from Jesus”.

Military veterans in Canberra, Australia, are getting on with life, and dragging younger veterans along for the ride.
Historically, there’s been a divide between World War 1 and World War 11 veterans, and then WW2 and Vietnam veterans. And these days, military personnel tend to serve in two, three, four or more theatres of war in a constantly changing mosaic.
The result is that they lack a cohesive network and the critical mass to organize the services and post-combat camaraderie the larger numbers of prior veterans could rely on.
The aggregating ‘peacekeeper’ or ‘peacemaker’ terms doesn’t seem to work to draw them together, and consequently many ex-servicemen and women, and their families, feel alone and adrift as they try to make their way in a post-military life.
This becomes particularly evident when illness invades a family, often in the form of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Individuals and families start to do it tough, and feel they have nowhere to turn for help, because all the familiar structures are no longer in place.
The Vietnam Veterans’ Federation in Canberra recently changed its name to the inclusive Vietnam Veterans and Veterans Federation to make it easier for young veterans to realize the old warriors’ services are available to young pups, too.
Now, veterans of military conflicts in any part of the world and serving Australian Defence Force personnel get help and camaraderie daily at the Federation’s premises at 9 Burkitt St, Page, in the Australian Capital Territory.
An ex-service organisation, VV&VF’s primary focus is helping everyone who is eligible to lodge a claim with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) for compensation or pension entitlements, to do so. The service is free, effective, and particularly relevant to veterans of recent conflicts.
The volunteers who provide the service are trained on the three separate pieces of legislation under which claims can be made to DVA. They prepare claims and represent claimants who wish to appeal against a rejection of their claim by Veteran Affairs. Representation is available at the Veterans’ Review Board and also at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
The organization also provides a drop in center, complete with meeting rooms and a Garden of Peace. They have a BBQ lunch each Tuesday, well set up woodwork and metalwork shops with retired tradesmen to teach one on one, a walking group, a golf group, ten pin bowling, computer training and cooking classes, a hospital visiting group, a male choir and a ladies auxiliary that conducts very successful carers’ courses to help spouses deal with partners suffering from physical and mental disabilities.
The Vietnam Vets started the organization when they were virtually rejected by the Returned Servicemen’s League (RSL) after their return home. They did the hard yards convincing governments, of both political persuasions, to recognise mental health problems that were very prevalent after the Vietnam War. They also ensured that the government set up the Vietnam Veterans’ Counselling Service.
The VVCS provided counselling for veterans, their partners and children that proved vital in saving many marriages and lives. The counselling service has also changed its name to reflect the needs of veterans from recent conflicts such as East Timor, the Solomons, Rwanda, Gulf War 1 & 2 and now Afghanistan, as well as the myriad peace keeping and peacemaking operations. VVCS now stands for Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service.
Glen Novita is a proud veteran, and keen to highlight some of the great work veterans’ organizations are doing to help their kin around the world. There’s more information on the VV&VFACT at http://www.vvfact.org.au and a short movie about veteran activities there.
